The dog park is open 7am-10pm daily. The limit is 3 dogs per person. I've been there daily with my dog and she loves it! So much fun and good to meet other dog lovers in Allen.

I think a dog park is a great idea. A place for social interaction and fun. I honestly don't know much about dog parks, but is it just me or does it seem odd to have a dog park in a shopping area? I would think that it would have been better to have something like this connected to a city park.
How do other cities do this?

Nice place! Went this morning, just a few people there... great addition to Allen...
Anyone know what happened to the dog park on the east side that the city was planning? Haven't heard anything more on it.

Originally I had heard it was supposed to be someplace over by Ford Park - probably the open area east of the pool close to the creek area. But, nothing came of that.
I did drive by the dog park today and thought it was very nice, but they should have provided a few benches for the dog owners to sit and watch their dogs play. I also like the fact that they left the stand of trees that were originally there rather than cutting them all down and planting new ones. Those trees will provide much needed shade when it gets hot in the summer. I think we're going to try going there tomorrow with our dog. He loves open areas where he can run around and be silly.

It is one large area for all of the dogs or is there a separate area for little dogs?
I love the idea of a dog park, but I've never been with mine because he doesn't respond reliable to "Come" and I'm worried it might be a nightmare!

It was one large area for all dogs. Mine doesn't always listen if he gets out and starts running down our alley or street, but if he is in a fenced area, he is usually pretty good about coming to me - especially if he has been running around playing and wears himself out. If you have a problem getting your dog come to you, sometimes they'll come to someone else and I'm sure with all the dog owners there, one would be happy to help you out.

Is there a time it is less crowded. My dog is good with small crowds but if she gets around a big crowd she spazzes out.

Those trees were some of the ones transplanted this last summer. Someone was concerned in an earlier thread that the trees that buffered the property and Hw75 were removed. These are some of those trees.
Original plans had a building on that area of the site.

Yes, I noticed that when we got to the park today. I couldn't tell that when we drove by yesterday. We took our two dogs and they loved it! My lab ran around sniffing other dogs, playing with them and even occasionally a playful bark. Our bassett hound was really good at this park. She did walk around sniffing and peeing and even played a little bit, but was very vocal when more dogs arrived. She just stood there and barked - until we walked over and gave her attention. I guess she was feeling left out and wanted EVERYONE to know.

Got my sis in town and I might see if she wants to take her little Gracie and I might take the Bandit and see how they do in a crowd.

It is located in the Villages at Allen at Highway 75 and Stacy Rd. An easy way to get there from Exchange Pkwy. is to take that street next to the State Farm office building/across from the Natatorium (you'll see a sign) north then go past the four way stop and turn left between Dicks Sporting Goods and Petsmart. You will see the dog park across the parking lot to the right.

I drove by and saw it and thought it was nice also....but do think they need some benches to sit on. I think it will be great and busy once petsmart opens. Good place for dh to go with the dog so the wifes can shop or what not some more in the shopping center without leaving dog in car or going back home first.
