My dogs sure were having fun today. We bought our lab one of those weiner dog squeaky toys the other day and he loves it so much that he tore the head off and pulled a lot of the stuffing out of it. He still hasn't got to the squeaky thing yet, but sure is trying! The other one thinks she is being cute and playful by laying on her back letting it all hang out. She is a sweet dog.

Cuties! It sounds like that's what Buster would do with a toy like that. We have given up on giving him the squeaky or stuffed animal toys because he destroys them.

oh yea, I have a few pictures like these.

I also came up a walk way to a clients, and saw their golden retriever in the guest room rolling around on the bed with stuffing everywhere.. had to grab my cell phone and send it to the client.. they were just laughing..

These things just make me smile until my cheeks hurt, thanks for sharing.

Ha! That is the truth! Just need a couple of party hats slightly askew on the playful pups.

Great dogs, Denise.

Thanks. I tried to get another cute picture of the big dog this morning, but he moved when I held up the camera. He was laying with his front paws splayed out to the sides giving me that cute and innocent look with those big, brown eyes. He is such a sweetie.

I did have to share my grapes with him this evening. After dinner, I got a few grapes to eat and he sat in front of me almost drooling wanting one, so I tossed one in the air and into his gullet it went!

They sure are cute! What would we do without all the joy our pets bring into our lives?

No problem, I would hate for one of your animals to get sick.

Our yellow lab, Charlie, died suddenly today. He is the dog in the background with the chewed up toy. He was laying on his dog bed (an old loveseat that he claimed) when I heard a strange sound like an exhale from him. I went over and shook him and his tongue was turning blue and he was non-responsive. His eyes were dilated and fixed. I called my husband in to get him out to our van and we took him to the emergency clinic out on Custer with my husband performing CPR on him all the way out there. We knew he was gone before we got him into the van but we did everything we could. The vet even gave him an injection with whatever they use to help stimulate the heart muscle, but it didn't do any good.

We spent seven wonderful years with Charlie. We originally adopted him from the SPCA in McKinney and they estimated he was about 2 years old then, so he was about 9 years old. He was loved by all of us and he loved us unconditionally. We gave him a really good home and he had a great life. He was a GREAT dog.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. When an animal gives no visible signs of being in distress or sick until his time comes, it is very hard.
You gave him a wonderful life and I know he enriched yours as well.
You did all you could to get him to the vet and get him the medical attention he needed. He couldn't have asked for a better family.

Thanks all. He did have a good life. He had the best and most expensive dog beds - our sofas or beds. He got lots of loving from our family too along with an occasional bone to chew on or a stick to chase. We also took him for walks which he loved to do. He would occasionally take himself for a walk without our permission and we would end up chasing him through the neighborhood several blocks. He had a great life with us. Those shelter dogs are extra special.
