I found this on the Community Waste Disposal website and thought it might be helpful if you're not sure what items can be recycled, composted or when you have bulk waste pick-up.

Have a great day!

Great sharing!Garbage is something that cannot be collected for recycling or composting. Garbage goes in a landfill. Once it's in the landfill, it sits underground forever.

If the item is still usable and you think someone else might benefit from it, you can always donate it, post it on Craig's list or offer it for free at one of the Freecycle sites. That helps keep some of those larger items out of landfills.

Are we allowed to take paint, etc to the disposal on Custer, or do we always need to call for an orange tub to be brought out to our home and picked up on trash day?

Looks like you have to call for pickup. The reuse center does not accept drop offs.

Yes, you do need to call the city for pick-up of household hazardous waste items (paint, chemicals, etc.). They will deliver a bin where you place the items inside and set the bin at the curb or alley (wherever you have regular trash pick-up) and they will pick it up. If it doesn't all fit, then you can use another box and set it beside the red bin for pick up. Call Donna Kliewer at 214-509-4551 to schedule household hazardous waste pick up. If it is bulk (large)items, call CWD to schedule pick-up.
