You mean the story about the Easter Bell? That is from Me Talk Pretty One Day. I think that is his best book ever. Buying 2 of everything because he can't remember the proper gender for single items.

Just finished a "double" book. It was actually two classics in 1 book.

Hadnt read either since high school but found the book and read them again.

Treasure Island
Call of the Wild.

Just picked the book up to glance at and couldnt put it down.

HBO is about to start airing a series based on a series of novels so I've started reading them- they're not bad. The author is Charlaine Harris- she has several series, this one is called "The Southern Vampire Mysteries"
These were written before the Twilight series and have a few similarities so I'm surprised I hadn't heard of them before HBO started production.

More time to read then ... :)

I just ordered a huge load of books for my daughter, but I have a feeling I'll be the one with my nose buried in em...Got 25 Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume books. While looking at the names I got vivid flashbacks of elementary school *giggle*

I gave my daughter a bunch of Beverly, Judy Blume books last Christmas. After she opened them my mom went to the garage and brought out boxes of the exact same books that were mine 20+ years ago. I guess I still have the same taste. Your post just reminded me of that and made me laugh. I read a lot of those these days too!! : )

Recently, my favorite place for books has been Half Price Books. Since I have a teen and am trying to understand him a bit more, I bought Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. This has been very easy reading and some stories have helped me understand my son a bit more.

I also read a book that is required reading for my son's 9th grade English class - "Speak". It is a somewhat difficult subject about a girl who gets raped, but more about the fact that she doesn't tell anyone and all her friends won't talk to her and are mean to her because she called the police at the "cool boy's party", but then ran away when they arrived, so never pressed charges. The story tells of her everyday struggles with trying to stay sane, keep her grades up, deal with making new friends at school and finally trying to tell her former best friend about what happened. There is more to the ending, but you'll just have to read it. At least I read it and can help explain things to him when he needs to read it.

And y'all probably thought all I read is gardening books! Okay, I do read those too! The last gardening related book was one about herbs and landscaping with herbs. I even went as far as drawing up a design for part of my garden in the back!

Speaking of elementary age books, another favorite book for that age is the Junie B. Jones books. When my oldest son was in 2nd grade, his teacher spent the last 15-20 minutes of each day reading these comical books to the class. They would listen to her and be mesmerized by the story and laugh at the funny parts. Anyone with a 2nd - 4th grader . . . these books are a lot of fun for them.

The Magic Treehouse books are also popular with that age group. They're really good chapter books for the kids. The Cam Jansen books are also popular with the boys at our school. (I volunteer a lot in our school library, so I see a lot of different books checked out.) And, would you believe that Misty of Chincoteague is still popular with the girls (along with other horse story related books)? I loved reading all those horse stories when I was young.

And, for the youngest group of kids, Marc Brown's Arthur series of books and also Clifford the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell. Berenstein Bears books don't stay in the library very long either after the kindergarden classes come through.

Well, being an elementary librarian I've read A LOT of kids books. And I love every single one of them (well, usually)! I have always preferred reading to other forms of entertainment (though I do love a good stage production as well). Usually when a movie comes out based on a book I go pick up the book and rarely bother with the movie!

Anyway, anyone ever needing a suggestion for a children's book, I'm more than willing to share.

My most recent books that I've read are:

Children's: all 20 of the 2008/2009 Bluebonnet nominees, Ira Sleeps Over, Mr Wiggle's Book, I Took My Frog to the Library, What Happened to Marion's Book, Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon, Wild About Books... (I read to all grade levels every day, so I get a variety)

Adult's: Sarah Strohmeyer's "Bubbles" series (mysteries in the same vein as the "Stephanie Plum" series by Evanovitch) and a couple of her stand alone books (The Cinderella Pact and The Sleeping Beauty Proposal). I also read lots from Meg Cabot over the summer (she writes both teen and adult books. Her most notable being the Princess Diaries series). I absolutely love her Queen of Babble trilogy and her Heather Wells series (another light hearted mystery series) and cannot wait for the next one to come out! I'm also waiting on the most recent Stephanie Plum to be out in paperback. I'm too cheap to buy the hardbacks! I usually go to the library for most of my books, but once you catch up in a series it's hard to wait through the long line of holds to finally get to read it!

I agree with the "Bubbles" book series. They are hysterically funny and well written. The latest "Stephanie Plum" was great.

On Monday I bought a new book that I saw reviewed in People Magazine. "Hurry Down Sunshine" by Michael Greenberg. Heartbreaking -- as a parent, I can't help but try to imagine how I would react if I were in the author's shoes. But I'm glad I got it.
Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.

Will work for shoes!

Picked up an old Stephen King Tommyknockers hardback from the half price books.

I have read all of his books in paperback but now I am making a collection of the hardbacks so I read them again when I buy them.

I have Insomnia. Bought the hardback years ago. Stupid book gave me the heebie jeebies and had me paranoid for weeks. I should take it to Half Price Books.

Haven't read another Stephen King novel since.

Recently re-read "Night Shift" some of those I have to skip cuz they still give me nightmares.

Several bookclubs and lists name Stephen King's The Stand as a "must read before you die" has anyone read that one?
