Ahh, okay, I've been to that site. Very informative. But, I guess I was expecting more of an ontheissues.org-type website. That would be very beneficial.
At any rate, I may email Ron and see what I can find out...

I am a personel friend of Tommy for 8 years now. I talked to him at church the othe day and he was very upset about the slanderous statement you have made. Posting tripe like that without even talking to the candidate and posting under a private little fake name, so no one can see who you are, should be a clue to everyone that its sabotage. Grow a backbone

Finally, I looked at voter history. I want to know that a person has been participating in political process in the community at least to the minimal extent of troubling to vote in City and School elections. I have never been comfortable voting for a candidate whose first local vote is the one with his or her name on the ballot. Barbara is just one election short of a perfect voting history in City and School elections. Obviously I have no idea HOW she votes, but I do know THAT she votes.
How does one look up voter history?

Election records are available from the Collin County Election Bureau and the process for obtaining them is on their website.
I have never requested records on just one or a few individuals - it has always been for full election cycles. Since I was working the PAC for the TRE a few months ago, I had pulled and cleaned and collated all the records from 2008 to present and I just looked there.
You could also just ask your candidates!!

I also checked the voting records and see that you are correct. There are people that put their name in the hat for this election and have never voted before. Talk about nerve. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! Inexcusable. And you should all be ashamed.

I feel bad because I think what I stated is blowing up in a way I had not intended.
I gave a long list of reasons why I supported Barbara McNutt and this was on this list. I am indeed fanatic about voting - but that is my opinion.
The fact is that I can look at the voter rolls and see people on there who vote faithfully but whose political views are so skewed from my own that I would choose any of these five candidates over them every day of the week and twice on Sunday and be thankful for the option.
The commitment to serve is made when a person places his name on the ballot, not when the votes are counted. All of these candidates deserve our appreciation for their willingness to step up.
Calling shame on them for one aspect of qualifications viewed as deficient seems a little over the top - it especially hurts since I know some of them and they are fine people.
It is interesting that I highlighted Barbara's service on a City Board, the Arts Alliance Board, Leadership Allen and her AISD volunteer efforts along with her professional experience and this voter history thing is the one that caught fire.
So, since I can't unring the bell, let me encourage folks who find this important (as I do) to consider it as a qualification, decide how important it is relative to other qualifications and then simply make a decision without a personal judgment.
Meanwhile, just go vote. The election judges are talking about switching jobs to Maytag repairmen so their workplace will be more lively.

In response to Elect Tommy Baril
Howdy!
My name is Tommy Baril and I am a candidate for the City Council Place 6 position that was recently vacated - and will be filled in an election in the next few weeks. I am seeking this position because serving my community is in my DNA. I’m seeking to represent the city to ensure we continue to have a great place to work and live while maintaining fiscal responsibility and accountability.
I have a proven record as a goal-oriented, results driven leader and a proven record as a public servant. Specifically, I am a Senior Defense Analyst with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), where I serve as the analyst-in-charge of engagements evaluating national security programs. I have received multiple awards, including GAO's Community Service Award, GAO's Meritorious Service Award, and GAO's defense team's Managing Director Award.
I have a proven record of serving the community. I have served in various capacities, such as serving the homeless in Dallas, serving as a leader and volunteer in Boy Scouts units and the Southern Sky district, serving as a member of Allen Community Emergency Response Team, and coaching youth through the Allen Sports Association. Over the summer, I led the effort that resulted in four new scouting units within Allen.
If elected, my three main priorities are:
* Maintain smart and sustainable economic growth to ensure Allen remains competitive and a great place to do business, work and live;
* Maintain strong accountability and fiscal responsibility so that the city can achieve the strategic goals and objectives articulated in the city's strategic plan; and
*Pro-actively engage with Allen to prepare the city and its residents for the challenges of the future.
I am a proud Christian, husband, father, Eagle Scout, and Texas Aggie.
Please vote on the dates listed below and elect me because serving the community is in my DNA.
For more information, please 'Like' me at www.facebook.com/ElectTommy.
See you at the polls on Nov 28 - Dec 9 or on Tuesday, December 13th.
God Bless! Gig 'em!
Tommy

I personally have not made my mind up yet as to the candidate I will be voting for. But, I do have a question as to what your definition of "sustainable growth" is and why you are not interested in it? Could you please elaborate?

His speech to the Rotary Club didn't show a real passion for the City of Allen--his presentation left a lot to be desired. Maybe he just wasn't prepared. If not prepared for a 5 min speech(he thought it was just a 1-2min one), don't think he is too prepared for a city council position.

Baine Brooks is the man! He is a small business man, Two Rows Restaurant, employs 40; has been president of Greater Dallas Restaurant Assn, on board of North Texas Food Bank, donates thousands to charities, PTAs, married with 2 daughters, mem ber of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, received Allen Milennium Award for promoting excellence in business, promoting the City of Allen, encourag ing employment growth and contributing back to the community. As a restaurant owner, he donates to Allen's Meals-on-Wheels, as well as meeting a payroll, focusing on Allen's infrastructure, open space needs, water conservation and downtown revitalization. He quotes Thomas Paine 1785, "The right to vote is the primary right by which other right are protected".
BAINE BROOKS for ALLEN CITY COUNCIL
He is the best of the choices. He is my choice; I hope he is yours. Go meet him at Two Rows Restaurant. I did. Forty minutes after I walked through the restaurant door, I found he is the most qualified for the important tasks ahead, and he will be the best choice to help represent Allen together with the great sitting council members.

You do realize that you're misrepresenting Tommy, don't you? Go back an listen to his message again ... he's talking about growth in Allen ... not your narrow-minded view of the phrase "sustainable growth" which you still haven't provided your definition of yet.

Look like on Collin Central Appraisal District, Baine sold Two Rows in April 2010 to KPM Investments. What business does he currently own? And what specific businesses have endorsed him?

She's listed first on the ballot which helps! I bet there will be a runoff election.
