I hope that everyone understands that I am really not trying to fan the flames here. When did this topic switch from a discussion about the tragic death of a kid to the general social injustices between the races? Yes, the kid was black and the shooter was Hispanic. It was recently stated that Zimmerman used the term “F*****g PUNKS” as opposed to the racial slur that most thought he used. To quickly point something out… I believe that will end the Federal Investigation once that is acknowledged by them since it will no longer be able to be proven a hate crime. You can go and point out every tragic unjust killing of blacks throughout history at the hands of everyone from law enforcement to whites but that doesn’t change this story. I haven’t seen where the police have stopped investigating or where he will walk free. As I previously stated… I believe he will be charged with something. The dangerous Stand-Your-Ground law doesn’t apply and that has been acknowledged by both attorneys.
No one knows what Zimmerman was thinking but himself when he chose to call 911 about the “suspicious” kid. Did he not like blacks? Did he not like hoodies? Was he allergic to skittles? No one knows and we may never know. All we will know is what the evidence says happened.
By the way… “Hoodie-winked” has to be the stupidest play on words I have ever heard but at least he is getting people out to vote. However, this tragedy can only be made worse by people using it to gain political clout and gain.

I think people that are not African American think that if they were black they would think differently.

But how could they think differently, if they had the same life experience?

This was a real eye opener to me traveling overseas, seeing how different people think, eat and live in contrast to the US. People are influenced by their surroundings, and they tend to believe what their parents teach them, they tend to have the religion of their parents too. I have seen American's look down on them for they way these others live. It wasn't wrong, just different.

Its hard to seriously think that anyone of us would see things differently, if we lived the life of the people we look down on, or criticize.

It the same for Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and their ilk. They had a life experience that led them to their beliefs.

The challenge for all of us is to see there is validity to what people think, even if they are mislead into thinking Allah will give them a special place in the afterlife for killing innocent people.

Only after we understand why people think they way they do can we change their life experience to change they way the think.

It was watching a young boy, who was very feminine at 9 years old, grow up to be gay, that I understood God made people gay. It was a life experience that changed my mind in how I thought about gay people.

I think forums like this help people share their beliefs, and can either harden us or open our eyes.
If CEO's increased their pay at the same rate as Average Americans
their pay would average $1,384,890 not $10,621,000

Well put. This is one of the primary reasons I travel abroad almost exclusively. The ability to walk a mile in someone elses shoes escapes this country. I have never had a heated conversation regarding religion or politics while abroad simply because there's an open mindedness you just don't get here. I'll admit I'm pretty strong willed in my thinking, however I was once a member of the hard line Right at one point. I have to believe if I can open my eyes to the pain caused by hate and racism, everyone else should too. That just hasn't worked for me yet.
I get my news from the Comedy Central and my comedy from Fox News.

Now this...

"A recent Reuters profile of George Zimmerman explains the context in which he shot Trayvon Martin on February 21. It does not provide direct evidence one way or the other on the question of whether Zimmerman's use of force was justified, but it does complicate the widespread perception of him as a racist hothead and overeager wannabe cop."
